The story
Odysseus left for Troy and did not come back for twenty years. Everyone assumed he was dead. Everyone except one person.
One hundred and eight suitors moved into Penelope's house. Each one had an offer. Each one told her the same thing: he is gone, take the deal, move on.
She told them she would choose a husband as soon as she finished weaving a burial shroud. So she wove it by day — and every night, alone, she quietly unpicked the work she had done. For three years the shroud never got any closer to being finished.
It was conviction, with a strategy.
She said no one hundred and eight times. She held a position for two decades against every voice telling her it was worthless. And she was right.
That is the whole thesis. There is nothing else behind this coin, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
